Design and Technology

Welcome to the Design and Technology Faculty at Queen Elizabeth’s School.

We are a vibrant and energetic faculty which has excellence as our goal. Whatever area of the curriculum studied our students are able to access it at their own level and are supported to develop in their chosen specialism whether it is Child Development, Graphic Products, Food Technology, Resistant Materials or Textiles.

The staff team is comprised of a group of highly qualified enthusiastic professionals, very experienced in their own areas. We have a suite of eight very well equipped specialist rooms with some of the latest equipment available ensuring all students are able to access the very best facilities. All rooms have interactive whiteboards, CAD/CAM and ICT facilities are, without question, some of the best in the country.

We have very high expectations of our pupils to achieve their personal best and we strive to work closely with parents and the community to enable our students to achieve the highest possible standards.

During year 9 all students will experience a variety of subjects within Design and Technology. These are Food Technology, Graphic Products, Resistant Materials and Textiles. Students will study each for approx. 18 lessons; they will then be able to choose their KS4 GCSE options from these and an additional subject, Child Development, to start in year 10.
